Travellers journeying the southwestern roads of the kingdom are reporting an eerie mist and unnatural seanse of dread in those lands. Rumors spread that the roads near the town of Barthen have become unsafe to travel. The city of Nibis has experienced an influx of farm folk from the west, the refugees whispering that their farmlands are cursed with evil and dangerous to inhabit.
Brave adventurers are called upon to investigate those cursed lands and put to right what evil might lurk there.
This adventure is open for anyone to play through. Please use characters that are 3rd to 5th level. I will be online all of this evening to run this event. And possibly tomorrow night as also. Log in and join in the fun at any time.

Sorry I missed this. Let me know via FB if you ever do anything like this again, ED. I don't frequent this site as often as I used to.

Ok so I'm hearing something about loving a flute, crabs, and people not having ED... what is happening to the sanctity of the forum? But seriously the crabs really did throw me for a loop, I thought for sure some hermit on the crab island was playing the flute. Are there any zones that simulate a similar zombie/undead horde? That was mad fun... hit and run slaying endless zombies. I know about the purple fungus zombies, but that isnt quite as intense.

There is that Valhingen Graveyard you can get to from Phlan. It's full of undead of many kinds.
Just a FYI, the giant crab didn't come from that small island. I brought it from Wave Crest Bay (no relation to the tooth paste) to help out with my not-so-powerful character. I think it may have killed 2 soldiers in Alton at the docks but it's hard to maintain control over that thing indefinitely.
I'm not sure the purple fungus zombies are truly undead.

I would love for someone to develope and area set for it... Perhaps someone will run another campaign in an abandoned kingdom to make that area. (Earthdreamer cough cough)
The purple fungus zombies are not undead at all, but the sideeffects of a powerful drug that is illegal in the kingdom because it turns people into zombies... there is evidence that at one point there was an event that had some of the fungus poluttle the kingdom... maybe we will revisit that at some point.

It doesnt matter to me if they are undead as long as they act like undead... and in droves like ED's event. The fungus zombies just arent plentiful enough (respawn time I suppose) and they dont have faster things (like the shadows and ghouls) mixed in. I think those things are why it really felt at some points you where fighting for your life.
Sting- did your giant crab have babies? cause on the little island here was mini crabs, er regular size I guess.

I thought the fungus zombies were created similar to the side effects of the Yellow Musk Creeper vine listed in the Fiend Folio manual.
Those regular sized crabs are always on that island. That's normal.

Glad you guys had fun. The evil bard/palemaster narrowly escaped the heroes at the last minute, and the town of Barthen was saved from total destruction. Fleeing with the evil bone flute, the Minstrel Modru retreats to an unknown sanctuary to plot her wicked revenge. Keep your eyes on the forum here for part two of the Spontaneous Zombie Apocalaypse. And thanks for playing, I had a blast.
(Loo Bakka, I will send you a notice on FB next time I dm.)
