The intrepid survivors of the shipwreck scout the western shore of the new world. Provisions run low, with food and especially water in short supply. Hungry beasts also roam the coastline, and the group is on constant alert. Only skill and determination will tame this savage land.

Pruvian Colonies - Part One, Session Three
Having found the abandoned fort, and cleared out the hostile creatures inhabiting it, our group of survivalists now find themselves with a new home. Much work needs to be done to make the castle inhabitable. Rotten and moldy wood, crumbling walls and the rank filth left behind by a gnoll tribe must be cleared and repaired before the settlers can relax in safety. Spirits are high, and the folk eagerly anticipate leaving the cramped quarters of the ship for a more comfortable sanctuary. Very little trace has been found of the original colonists. A few scattered bones, some rotten crates of supplies, and a battered journal are all that is left of the fifty people that once garrisoned the outpost.

A mold-encrusted and water stained journal has been found among the castle ruins. The survivors pass the volume around, and in the quiet light of the evening fire, try to decipher the faded writing from the crumbling book. The pages appear to be the collected works of an Avar priest who was among the first settlers to the Pruvian continent. It details the founding of the colony, the building of the castle, births, deaths of the settlers, and vague descriptions of the local topography and landmarks.
Entry 1 - (Dated 10 years ago)
It is my fortune and blessing to be chosen by the council to journey with a group of brave men and women to the recently discovered land of Pruvia far to the East of Toku islands. As a newly ordained Curate, it is my responsibility to tend to the spiritual and physical wellness of the newly founded community. I will be keeping this journal as a record of these events as they unfold.
-After months at sea, our fleet of ships have arrived safely at the Pruvian shore. It is a wild and untamed land, full of life both familiar and strange. Tall growths of oak and cedar crowd the fertile hills, and game is abundant. Reptiles seem to flourish here, and grow to immense sizes. I thank Avar for delivering us safely across the ocean, and my heart races as I stand at the land's edge. I wonder what marvellous secrets the unexplored land to the east will hold.
-Our scouts have found a river of fresh water pouring out of the hills, and a suitable site for a permanent encampment. The commander has ordered a temporary wooden stockade to be built around the camp to keep agressive lizards at bay. The camp's cook was killed this week when several of these beasts were drawn to the smell of a deer that the man was butchering. Little was left to be buried, but what remains that were found were laid to rest on a hillside overlooking the encampment. Avar rest this poor man's soul.

Pruvian Colonies- Part One, Session Four
The fort's new occupants busy themselves with clearing the rubble and filth left behind by the gnoll tribe. The bodies of the defeated gnolls are dragged from the courtyard and piled upon a large heap of ruined furniture, dry wood and tinder. Heavy stones that once blocked the entrance to the keep proper are used to fill the breach in the southern wall. Inside, torches are lit, and the fort begins to feel something like a home. Supplies and equipment are moved from the ship's hold, and for the first time in many months, the small band of survivors have the protection of stone walls around them.
Rumors of a haunted ruin to the north spread among the colonists, and stories of an angry spirit keep many of the settlers awake at night. Guards are posted on the tower walls, ever watchful of danger. And once again, the Standard of Lomar is raised at the gatehouse, the white pennant snapping in the crisp breeze that flows off the ocean and across this new land.

Pruvian Colonies - Part One, Session Five
Construction and fortification continues on the abandoned castle. Trees are felled and the heavy logs are hewn into planks. A stable is built along the south wall, and the splintered drawbridge is replaced. Buckets of fresh water drawn from the well prove to be suitable for drinking, and now quenches the thirst of the men and women laboring at the fort.
Food supplies have begun to run low, and plans are made for a garden plot. Meanwhile, hunters are dispatched to roam the local lands searching for big game. There are few who are brave enough to take this duty, for it is well known that the odds of returning alive are not favorable.
There is much talk of the 'freindly gnoll tribe' among the colonists, and suspicions abound. The folk are not quick to trust any of these beast-men, especially after the battles with the savage gnolls. Also, restful sleep still eludes some few of the colonists.
Nightmares of suffocating darkness and clawed hands pulling the unwilling sleeper into a shadowy tomb deep below the soil disturb more than one person's night's slumber. It is whispered that the spirits in the ruins to the north may have something to do with it. Or perhaps it is the dreaded witch that lives among them? Something is poisoning the minds of those who sleep.

Pruvian Colonies - End Chapter One
The captain's announcement came as a surprise to everyone. He would be taking the remaining ship across the ocean to Lomar, and that he would be leaving the colonists under the care of Lenson the Curate of Avar. The King, he said, must be notified of the events unfolding on the Pruvian shores and of the disasterous loss of the rest of the fleet. Within a few days the ship is loaded with barrels of fresh water and what meager supplies the colonists can spare. Vowing that he will lobby the royal court for re-inforcements and promising that he will return in six month's time, Captain Ronson takes his two best men, Addams and Patson, the sailors Ugari and Jerrin and sails westward on the fading summer winds, taking the only means of ocean travel with him.
The colonists are now truly alone, stranded, with no means of escape in this hostile unknown land.
Thanks to everyone that has been playing through this campaign. I have been having a great time! We will start Chapter 2 within a few weeks. I will post our next session time as soon as it is scheduled. Oak is running the adventure this Sunday with Out of Time campaign.

Pruvian Colonies - Part Two, Session Six
Lenson sits upright in his bunk, his open mouth screaming, his heart pounding in his chest as he wakes suddenly. The nightmares had come again..With trembling hands, the priest fumbles with the candle nearby. Several colonists are wakened from their sleep by the Curate's cries and glare at the man as he lights a bright torch from the tiny flame in the common sleeping room. Sweating feverishly, the man pokes the lit firebrand in every corner of the room..searching for the shadows he knows must be there..
He had not wanted to come to this godless land from the start, but he had been passed over for Priorship in Lomar and his betters had deemed it necessary for him to acheive some worldy experience. Missionary work they surmised, would enlighten the young priest, temper his soul into a more suitable vessel for Avar's power, and teach him compassion for his fellow men.
They had made it sound like a fine adventure, and perhaps a welcome respite from his duties. And it was.. until the typhoon struck the fleet of ships he travelled with. Never before had the young priest seen such power unleashed by nature, and only by Avar's grace was his ship saved from destruction. Lenson had felt as if his god had protected him from the worst, and that he had been blessed and kept from harm.
The feeling faded the instant he looked upon the new lands. He felt something evil..something old..something wicked and powerful that seethed just below the palms and ferns. It made his stomache sick and his legs weak. It was as if the roots of the forests and jungles were soaked in the blood of many, and thrived to unnatural fullness on the rich death below. The tiny flies and insects seem to draw upon the soul of thier hosts, and the blossoms of the wild orchids, a sickly-sweet perfume that was toxic despite thier fine aroma. The thick jungle air seemed suffocating to Lenson, and he wanted nothing more than to return to Lomar.

Pruvian Colonies - Part Two, Session Seven
The survivors follow the rescued Kyoht girl through dense jungles, across hostile swamplands, and finally to a hidden settlement perched at the edge of a vast cliff. Bearing the bodies of her two slain companions, the adventurers enter the treetop stronghold cautiously, crossing bridges suspended over deadly cliffs, and narrow paths of plank boards fastened with spikes and ropes directly to the cliff face! Many strange forms of beast-men make thier homes in the platform village, and there is an air of commerce to the place. Merchants and craftsmen trade the bounty of the forest and skill in open markets and shops. Exotic fruits and spices, smoked meats, strange pelts and furs, weapons and reagents all are available at the market. Here, the Kyoht and thier allies have created a safe haven from most of the forest predators. Armed warriors oversee the security of the place from high lookout towers, and although the companions are tolerated as guests, some of the warriors growl agressively and brandish thier weapons at the fighters in the group as if trying to provoke an attack. Diplomacy or bravery? The companions will decide thier own fate in their negotiations with the Kyoht tribesmen.
