I am called Batcu Ichi, which translates into something that would be one time bad. How I came to be here and why I am here I will now tell you. That is not my real name but my real name died with my husband.
My father was named Ryuk Yagami and he was a powerful warrior of honor who died defending his Master to the very last. With his death my older sister Kuromisa and I were left homeless, but we were among those chosen to enter the Shaolin Temple. I have no doubt that we were chosen because of the honor our father held true to. My older sister Kuromisa was graceful, good looking and fierce. I was plain, strong and determined. People would marvel at her grace and speed, her beauty drawing everyone’s eye. She was gifted with everything but I had better discipline. As we aged word spread of her and soon many began to court Master San Te for her hand. But he would not let any have her and so our training continued. A local magistrate named Boss Wang determined that he would have her and he told Master San Te that unless he was given the Daughter of Ryuk Yagami that he would order the temple destroyed and would grind it into dust. Master San Te relented and made Boss Wang publicly swear that he would take the daughter of Yagami as his wife and would never bother the temple again.
My sister never saw my wedding and my husband did not see my face until after the ceremony. I did not want to do it but was told I was obligated to. The only time he ever hit me was when he saw that I was not my sister. Boss Wang publicly could do nothing to me or the temple. But he held revenge in his heart, and it was a hard time in my life. Wang was a ruthless man who was the secret leader of the Black Lotus assassins. The Black Lotus are the secret arm of the magistrate, They have no honor and do the dirty work for those in power who wish to appear clean. It was the Black lotus who burned my temple to the ground. They had also captured my sister, well captured is not true. I admit she willingly joined them. She took my husband as her’s and I was left to think upon the way things had turned out. What would you have done? I had to restore honor to my husband and temple. It took a simple snap and twist to accomplish this. Kuromisa escaped my wrath and she assumed the leadership of the lotus. I left that day by sea to avoid the conflict I know we must someday have. She has sent a score of ninja after to me, but they do not have the skill to finish the job. I have defeated each one. Someday she may show herself to me and I can finish this once and for all. But until then I have travelled the seas… annoyed by the assassins that she has sent after me. Perhaps she sends me those she wishes to remove from her organization. I am not sure… In either case it was this that led me to my current situation which now involoves being stranded after fighting pirates on the open seas.
I am not one for fancy words, or saying things in one way when they really mean another. If you want that you should go speak to a colorful bard. I speak plainly but I speak the truth. If I do not know the facts I do not make them up. I will simply say I do not recall. If you have questions ask otherwise I will assume that you know I speak of.
I will admit I do not know why I boarded the ship on that particular day. The captain was looking for hired help and I had need of coin having long since spent what I took from my house. I did not have the right equipment for this job, but it was unclear what we would be doing. The boat set sail and I introduced myself to the others but names were reluctant to be given. On the ship was a captain but no first mate. There was a wu-jen, or shukenja human who seemed most preoccupied with death. An elf who seemed every bit the elf. Bow in hand , small but graceful. I have never been familiar with them. From what I have heard they can not focus and have a hard time paying attention to the here and now.
