Campaign Summary: All of the players are the children (Biologically or adopted) of a once great adventurer who earned the title of Thane. Being an old man his children have gone forth into to the world to find their own fortunes. His children were all very different and each went down a different path.
The Thane, as he was known by many was known far and wide for his jack of all trades nature and retired from his adventuring some years ago to settle and raise his children. Thanes are made not born unlike other royalty often due to some great service that was performed. While thier title can be passed down, other royals do not always see them as equal. Being royality they are land owners, given land and those that live on it as well. Though the Thane left his lands called Thel Dinge many years ago, he was managing it from afar.
Now news of his sudden and untimely death has reached his children and they must come back to attend his funeral. Of course there is the matter of his inheritance as well, taking over his responsibilities and possibly investigating his strange and abrupt end. What is to become of Thel Dinge? Or the Thanes reported great wealth?
Keep in mind that both Oak and I would like to keep your character motivations and background between us. So Limit what you share with the other players. We are hoping for more character background and direction.
In some ways this campaign will be both survivalist and roleplaying orientated. Players actions can have a changing value that affects the entire world. Thel Dinge and the surrounding areas will be developed more as the campaign continues and the plot demands it to be expanded.
For this event It is preferred that each player answer a questionaire and roll up stats for their character. I would also hope that we could set up a sunday (january 12th) in which to roll up characters, and let the character have a week or two to get settled on the server before the event. Maxing out the xp for their character so that they end up being level 3 at the start with some natually earned gear.
Options for rolling up characters will be as follows
option 1 roll 4d6 drop low die (taking the best three)
Option 2, roll 2 set of stats (Order str dex con int wis cha) at 3d6 with the ability to swap 2 of them - So if you roll 7 8 9 9 5 18 for the first and 5 13 13 17 13 you could end up with 13 13 18 17 13 or something like it
option 3 roll 3d6 (Order str dex con int wis cha) for stats and then roll 2d4 and you can then spread those points out among the stats as you so if you rolled 7 8 9 9 15 18 for your stats and then rolled a 2 and a 4 for your bonus dice you could have something like 7 8 9 9 15 24 or something like 7 8 9 13 17 18
Option 4 Roll 22 6 sided dice and use the best 18 where you want them
Birth order can be determined by die roll or discussion of the players.
Please post questions here

This sounds like a fun campaign. Here is an outline of the PC I want to bring.
Human male Bard Level 2 str 10 dex15 con10 int 14 wis 10 cha 16 The source of constant disappointment Yolo has been estranged from the Thane for the last decade. Happy to waste his life practicing music and chasing girls. Not a great musician to say the least he tends to focus on reworking cover songs of those he admires. Now that the Thange has passed away Yolo is hoping to cash in, buy a boat and live a pointless life playing music at the beach and indulging in his puerile purist of pipeweed, girls, wine and song.

^ I think I know where you got the idea for your character and I saw a portrait the other day that might work for you. Unfortunately he doesn't carry a crossbow but instead has a compound bow in his hand. I suppose you could just imagine he's holding a crossbow. The portrait is named MPortrait72 and looks like this:

Question to answer about your character in a pm to oak and myself
How old is your character? Are your mom still alive? If so where is she? What was her name? Do you have any siblings? Have any of them died? If any siblings have died how did they die? What do your siblings do? Is your character married? Does your character have children? What social class is your character from? How has their upbringing affected their world view? How did your character get started in their chosen class? Does your character have any heroes or inspirational figures? Does your character have any significant personal items? Is your character religious? Is your character guided by a prophecy? What is your character’s view on magic? Has your character ever served in the military? Has your character ever been arrested? What for? How did your character meet his current adventuring companions? Has your character ever crossed anyone? Does your character have any enemies? What are your character’s goals in life? How important is the accumulation of wealth? If your character died tomorrow what would they be remembered for? Where did your character learn or train their skills?

I should be able to make it... probably closer to 830cst though. In regards to the background questions can we do that after we roll up a character? I have mine narrowed down but not solidified until I roll his abilities. Though I'm fairly certain I will be a build that can heal well, because I think we'll need it

Ok for those of you who did not stick around send me or post your bic in the right spot and then track down a dm to get your 1000 starting gold. You have two weeks to gather supplies and gear but any xp over 3500 will be removed. Our offical start date on the campaign is jan 26th at 830 central standard time.
If anyone else would like to join this bi weekly campaign feel free, but you have to let us know... it is unlikely that someone will be able to show up and play later...
events will be 2 and half to 3 hours every two weeks, But I would like people to be in at the start even if they can not make it every time..

Yolo is 28. His mother is still alive living and working in a tavern in Thel Dinge. He has no other siblings from the Thane, his birth the unexpected result of an encounter between the Thane and his mother. His two sisters, Mary and Jaime both are younger and so far following his mothers career path working at the bar.
Yolo has so far been too dumb to find a wife (it might do him some good). He tends to favor the "hot mess" kind of girlfriend who would have no interest in settling down unless Yolo sudden found himself in possession of some kind of highly valuable windfall. One of the reasons he is hoping the Thane remembered him in his will.
Yolo has always wanted to be a musician. With the coppers he earned playing piano and singing at the bar he grew up in. He was able to attend school. Which he didn't really enjoy, never really fitting in with the other kids because of his low social standing. He finally failed to graduate due to discipline problems relating to numerous missing items.
Yolo is pretty shallow. His biggest dream is the Thane left him enough gold that he could buy a ship and sail to a tropical island living out the remainder of his days getting drunk and chasing girls. Oh yeah and he wants to roast out tasty jams with his band.

Rex Hunn A quite large 28 year old very pale skinned half-Orc. Rex is not as simple minded as your average Orc blood and can hold a normal conversation which surprises most who find themselves talking to him. It becomes apparent that he sees himself as human, though his appearance is probably closer to that of an Orc. Rex has no idea who his parents were as he was abandoned to an orphanage as a baby. Only the sealed protected documents in the orphanage hold this secret, as well as perhaps a deceased adventurers will! The orphanage, responsible for his upbringing is the reason for his intelligence as the place also schooled it's inturns. Always the outcast in a predominantly human society, Rex is a hermit, working as a lumberjack in solitude mostly as people either ridicule, taunt or stare at him for his appearance. Although almost uncharacteristically mild mannered, his Orc lineage does make him vulnerable to fits of rage which occur from time to time, especially in tavern environments-which is why he avoids drinking. He has gotten into a lot of trouble in the past for being a menacing destructive drunk, especially if even slightly taunted or stared at whilst in said state. One of the only friends he had from his orphanage who was ostracized for befriending him, left and joined the army. Before doing so, he pointed out to Rex that he would make a good soldier. Rex practices the trade of fighters in his spare time but still lacks the resolve required to up and join the forces. He gave up trying to locate his parents long ago although he did spend some time in his earlier life looking for answers. He knows his mother/or father, must of come from the northern Orc tribes somewhere because of his skin and apparent indifference to colder weather, but beyond this, he is clueless. Rex tries to avoid altercations as due to his menacing size and orc looks, generally gets the blame for any trouble which involves him. He's not overly smart, but he's smart enough to know that due to society, someone of his nature will never get very far without extreme difficulty, thus doesn't really bother integrating beyond the necessary interactions required to eke out a living. His life experiences have made him a very guarded individual, but he will help others from time to time, if he judges them worthy folk. His world is relatively small, as are his goals in life! ...I enjoy writing so thought I'd knock that up for the campaign!

This is the portrait pack and also a helm model I made for my character. Please download these and unzip to the proper nwn folder so you can see my character properly.
extract this one to Portraits folder - po_hu_m_tsar_m.zip (400.1 KB)
extract this one to Override folder - helm_150.zip (89.58 KB)
the helm model doesn't override any existing helms, so don't worry... and its only a temporary solution.
