Karador requires 6 things to log in.
First, you must have a copy of NWN (Neverwinter Nights 1) that includes NWN, “Shadows of Undrentide” and “Hoards of the Underdark”.
Second, you must have NWN patched up to version 1.69. Go to neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/patch/169-critical-rebuild-english and pick the version to download that matches your current game setup.
Third, you need a copy of the Community Expansion Pack, CEP 2.4A (Version 2.62 is now currently available and backwards compatible): www.neverwinternights.info/cep.htm
Download. Extract the .rar file. Move all the .hak files from the newly created HAK folder into the HAK folder of your NWN game installation. BE SURE TO OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES.
Fourth, you will need to download the PRC35.rar: neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/original-hakpak/player-resource-consortiums-prc-pack-v35
Download. Extract the .rar file. Move all the .hak files from the newly created HAK folder into the HAK folder of your NWN game installation. BE SURE TO OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES.
Fifth, you will need to download PRC 3.5 / CEP 2 merge hak: neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/original-hakpak/player-resource-consortiums-prc-pack-v35
Download. Extract the .rar file. Move all the .hak files from the newly created HAK folder into the HAK folder of your NWN game installation. Move all the .tlk files from the newly created TLK folder into the TLK folder of your NWN game installation.
Sixth, you will need the latest HAK for Karador. This is broken down into 3 parts:
1) The HAK itself (goes into the HAK folder and comes with Cep2_custom.hak): sdrv.ms/1bpwSuA
2) The TLK file (goes into the TLK folder): sdrv.ms/1bcGCoi
3) All the new music (goes into the Music folder, 2 parts): Part 1: sdrv.ms/1e58Fu2 Part2: sdrv.ms/1b3k8DF
If you want to play a race that's not part of the standard NWN set but rather comes with the PRC (see NWN PRC online manual for full listings), I will explain how you go about acquiring one.
The PRC online manual is located here: www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/
Look to the left column and click on the 'races' tab.
Browse races on the right column.
In order to play a PRC race (or one of the new ones Harkker made), you need to do these things:
1) Download the PRC Character Creator (if you do not already have it) at this address: neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/tool/prc-character-creator-18-linux-and-mac-compatible
2) In order to use the character creator you need to run it then open the settings and click the plus button beside the Hak Files box, then add the following files; WOKHAK7262013.hak, prc_2das.hak, prc_textures.hak, and prc_race.hak. You will then need to select the "Use Custom TLK" option and add the W_O_K_TLK2.tlk file. "Use Default TLK" should remain selected. It may be necessary to create a folder called "Portraits" in the base install location for NWN and fill it with any portraits that you want to use i.e. portrait packs that can be found on this site. After all of that you can use the creator to create characters of the various races and classes that the PRC adds, it will automatically add racial feats and set the racial appearance in the game to an appearance that matches your race.
3) Run the PRC Character Creator (it works outside of NWN so you don't have to run the game to use it).
4) When you are finished making up a character, click on the 'finalize' button and a '.BIC' file will be created.
5) Locate the .BIC file (the one with the character name you just created) in your NWN directory in the sub folder called 'localvault'.
6) E-mail the .BIC file you created to Harkker (he's the current owner of Karador, administrator and chief modder for our community) with an explanation of who you are (screen/account name), your character (name and race type) and that you want the character added into your account. Another option is to post the .bic file in the PRC character creator section of these forums.
7) Once taken care of, your new character will be added into the Karador server for you to play. Contact Harkker here: karador.freeforums.net/conversation/new/1
Have fun and enjoy your time playing in The World of Karador!
