Attention citizens of Karador!!!
The good Lord Harkker and his apprentice Sir Oak issue this announcement to all ye who might be interested:
*** Harkker and I will be combining our efforts on a new starter level campaign and will be alternating DM duties throughout in order to maximize play time and character development for our players. While we are open to suggestions, what we have come up with is thus:
---> The campaign will be open to all Classes, Alignments and Races (at least those that are working in the system).
---> The basic premise is this: Player Characters will be prisoners of Lomar, currently held in Falker's Prison (sp?). The character can either be a guilty criminal or one who was wrongly accused and imprisoned, that's up to you. You don't have to tell anyone if you're guilty or not (except for your DMs that is).
---> There will be a prison break and your characters will have to survive as fugitives of the Kingdom.
---> Characters can either be generated via the NWN standard points distribution system or they may be rolled up utilizing the established method that Harkker and Oak have been using for the past several months (see details below).
---> The characters will be of low starting level with the starting level to be decided based upon the chosen races involved (we're currently thinking 2nd level to begin with, but that could change slightly if a particular desired race has a higher starting point then all players would begin at that combined level). Likewise as escaped prisoners, starting equipment will be little more than the clothes on your back (where the character wears clothes of course).
---> The characters will not be event locked, allowing the player to have time between sessions to tweak the character between event sessions; this however means that we will set xp & gp caps to prevent any one character developing too much between sessions. We'll look at highest xp character at the end of each session, add a little for some minor development then set the cap. That way if someone misses a session they can make up in between or contact one of us to run a solo mission when available. Similarly, we'll cap gp value of equipment based on end of session totals. Details will be worked out as we get into the campaign.
With 2 DMs, Harkker and Oak should be able to alternate sessions and try to keep a good biweekly arrangement and have enough flexibility to take the Characters in directions as of yet unexplored. The downside to all of this is that this one campaign will be the primary focus of both DMs and thus there will not be any other campaigns run simultaneously (unless someone else sets up to run some events). Other current plot lines will still be in development, but held for future exploration as interests grow in those areas (Pirate's Lagoon restoration and development; Sylvanus Kinslayer; The Vampire King; Approaching Gnoll armies; Volking raiders; The Fall of Alatriel; The Return of Zarathos; etc). We're currently thinking that the Prison Break will be taking place concurrently with some of those plot lines but might not directly intermix).
Post ideas, suggestions, level of interest, anything pertaining to the development of this campaign in this thread. Campaign kick-off will take place at a later date TBD as there are some scripts and builds that must be completed before we begin. Likewise, feel free to PM the DMs (copy to both please) any particular "factual" back-story as an initial xp bonus will be awarded for back-stories. Let us know if your "criminal" is in fact guilty or innocent, the crime they are convicted of, how long they've been imprisoned, items like that. Publicly post what you want other characters to learn or know about your character.
It should be fun, should have a bit of a "survival" aspect to it, and it should allow for some good RP and character development. The one thing you may want to consider is that there will still be a party of "fugitive" adventurers so try to keep the fun of others in mind as well.
