"A few days ago, I received a letter from a certain Ham Tuba. It said to journey to the town of Portsmith where some help was needed. Being the generally inquisitive person that I am, I obliged; I took a few coaches around the coastal cities of Lomar looking for a boat that was sailing to Portsmith. I found none so after feeling a little annoyed I traveled back to Port Alton and there on the docks was a sign for the boat to Portsmith! They were about to leave as I ran up the gangplank, I quickly arranged transport and payment with the captain and settled down at the back of the boat with my cloak wrapped around me and my sword for company. - Boat trips are not my favourite things in life; they are full of cold and wet and the odd monster or pirates. - Me and my sword - who happens to be possessed by a long dead wizard - had an interesting conversation about clouds and before long we were pulling up along side the pier in Portsmith. I thanked the captain and leaped over the side onto the dock before strolling off to find this Ham Tuba fellow. From the nature of the message I thought he'd be somewhere near the local temple, so I asked a passing local and they pointed me in the right direction. I arrived to find a hin propped up against a stone pillar sleeping with a monster of a dog standing guard over him, the thing was the size of a pony! It warned me away with a low growl as I approached, careful not to wake his master so I crossed the street - if you could call it that, it was just a dirt track - and sat in the grass on the other side. And waited. After awhile a drow lass walked up the road to stand over me with a questioning look and a glance at the hin and his dog. We small talked for a bit until the hin woke up and then we crossed to talk to him, wary all the while of his large friend. But after seeing we were no threat and his master awake he lay down and dozed off himself. We made introductions and talked for awhile, after a time we heard a voice coming from the temple door; exclaiming at what a lovely day it was. An old man who had obviously seen better days was before us, cheerful as you like. He greeted us and asked us if we had received letters and such. I nodded and said yes, at this point my memory becomes a little fuzzy but I remember me and the drow - Callie - following Ham into the local tavern for a bite to eat. After we left we found the hin - Baelin - exchanging jokes with a town guard, some of which I thought were quite good. We were informed that a slave had been reported held captive by witches to the north, and the mood turned from jovial to sombre in a few moments. Our task was to rescue the slave before the next full moon where he would be sacrificed, the full moon was in less than three days. We said our farewells to Ham and began our journey. We ran into a band of pirates in the woods outside the city, in which I got to test out my newly enchanted sword. It drank deeply of their lives instantly healing the few scrapes and bruises I had acquired in the last few days, I knew I had made the right choice when I asked for such a fell enchantment. After taking what meager loot they had accumulated from passing travelers we journeyed on until we came across some trees with strange symbols carved into them. This was the entrance to the witches cove."

"We had been warned that the witches had summoned a demon to aid them in their dark affairs, this particular demon would keep them alive even on the brink of death. We found the witches - four in total - in a small clearing at dusk. We charged in, our weapons and their spell fire flashing in the glow of a rising blood moon. It was truly an ominous sight! One of the witches lunged at me through the gloom, a pale woman hissing incantations in a guttural tongue and wielding a short sword in one hand with a steady wisp of spell fire in her other. She threw the spell fire at me and lunged with her sword, I barely parried the sword as the spell fire hit me. The smell of charred flesh was strong in my nostrils and the pain left as quickly as it had come as I smoothly ran her through, her body stiffened and her pale skin became white as my sword drained her of blood. Feeling came back to my left arm as she began writhing on my sword, still not quite dead. A small flash of green from the gem on the hilt of my sword and she stopped, properly dead. I whispered my thanks to the magician in my sword and looked around, the other two were barely holding the other three. A yell from Baelin sent me running to him, ducking spell fire all the while. When I got to him he quickly outlined a plan, me and Callie were to run and look for the prisoner while he covered our escape. I nodded and yelped as a sudden arc of lightning struck from the sky, one of the witches had brewed an impromptu storm and was hurling bolts at us. A swift stone from Callie's sling had that witch doubled over and the storm clearing, I beckoned to her and we ducked out of the clearing as the sound of a dragon's roar came from Baelin's direction. We crossed a small bridge and before us was a large grassy area with the ocean and beach in front of us and some cliffs to the east. Callie spotted a cave and we ran towards it, I used a fire beetle belly to light up the entrance so that Baelin could find us. We entered a dark passageway which turned to the left after a few meters, then to the right a few after that and then a door. Callie listened at the door for a moment and held up a hand and whispered a word, snake. She raised her soul blade and swung the door wide and a really big snake awaited us, I readied my sword and she threw hers; lopping off end of the snakes tail. It moved with blinding speed and sunk its fangs into Callie's leg before I could impale it with the tip of my sword, she screamed in pain and steadied herself on the cavern wall. She drank a potion with shaky hands, it seemed to help although she staggered a bit. We continued slowly and Baelin caught up, the potion seemed to have done the trick and Callie was back to normal after awhile. We came to a large open room after getting lost a few times, the torches flickered eerily and at first we didn't notice the pale inhumanly beautiful figure standing at the back of the room. It had flowing black hair, solid black eyes, feathered black wings and held a bow spun of obsidian. It seemed to be watching us, curiosity upon its face. Baelin approached it and began to ask it where the prisoner was, it began a sentence which was cut short by Baelin's sword through its chest. I was about to warn him of doing anything rash, but his somewhat questionable wisdom seemed to be on the right track for now. In the next room we found the prisoner in a cage of what appeared to be iron, with the roof uncovered almost as a taunt. There was a deep pool of water towards the back of the cave, which I peered into unsuccessfully. Baelin's wisdom was short lived and I turned around to find him inside the cage with the prisoner looking a little embarrassed. He told me and Callie that he would look after the prisoner and that we should go and finish off the witches. The prisoner said that once they were killed the cage would cease to exist. We journeyed back to the surface."

"Upon reaching the open air again, we decided to check the rest of the cove for anything useful. Partway along the beach we were beset by a quite a few small hissing balls of fur and hate. Although it saddens me to have to end the lives of such adorable little kitties, they attacked us first and were out for blood; however small their chances of actually hurting us. We decided to walk in the direction that they came from and encountered slightly bigger balls of fur and hate, one of the cats managed to swipe me across the nose before I cut it in two. No matter if I get healed, that still really hurts! We came across a few more packs of even larger cats which we dispatched with relative ease. We then decided to head back to the witch clearing, the sun wasn't rising and we had been awake all night. Something was wrong! We returned to the clearing and with a yell I started hacking into the nearest witch. She fell easily now that the demon was gone, I turned and looked for another victim and took a full barrage of magic missiles to the chest. The problem with a life stealing sword is that you need to have something to drain as you are attacked or you die just as if you had a normal sword. Anyway, I blacked out and don't remember the rest of the fight. I awoke sometime later with Callie standing over me with a look of surprise on her face. I was fine, somehow. I looked around and saw the witches hacked to bits, Baelin called us from the entrance of the clearing telling us that not all was as it seemed. Shortly after a massive golden dragon appeared nearby, I almost got myself killed when I raised my sword at it thinking it was there to eat me. Callie ran and hid. After some sharp words from Baelin, I lowered my sword and the dragon thanked us for saving him. We returned to Portsmith to find that Ham Tuba was nowhere to be found. We entered the temple and found the god Bahamut standing behind the altar, waiting for us. He thanked us and granted us each a boon. Baelin wished for his family to be guided to safety from the dragon wars and some friends to be lead to the afterlife. I wished for my warped body to be restored to its former normality, it took me by surprise and I almost lost my balance. Callie wished to have more of a resistance to the surface ailments, to which Bahamut answered by changing her body to a surface one. She was not impressed. He thanked us again and vanished. The local pastor informed us afterwards that the cover we cleared was now ours to do what we wished with it. He also presented me with the bow the demon was carrying, I graciously accepted. I have the funds to get the lighthouse fixed up and some extra rooms dug under it, perfect for the wizard in my sword and me. We said or goodbyes and promised to meet again and then went our separate ways. I took the boat back to Port Alton and decided to take a look at some of the border forts. I traveled to Fort Warworth where I undertook a task issued by the local chancellor to journey to a recently resettled dwarven temple for research. While traveling there I was beset by large groups of orcs which all fell like leaves before my blade. I reached the forest in which the temple was located and was ambushed by some misshapen ape creatures, they truly scared me. That something so savage can be so akin to us, even orcs aren't that bad. After slaying a few of the fell creatures, the others hastily retreated leaving my way forward to the temple clear. After getting the description, my trip back was quite uneventful. On my return I was handed a pouch of gold in return for the notes, I then walked back to Port Alton. Not needing to sleep like the humans do is extremely useful."
