I forgot and underestimated the world and it being so unforgiving. How is it possible to get my items back once dying in a cave ? I spend much gold getting mediocre gear and ventureback to wendorp cave and try and salvage my items. I can;t get past two mobs of ants for they respawn very soon after eachother. Is there a trick im missing?

Well, i have been thinking, I seem to be falling in an old pattern where the essential Party isnt an option for me. Ill give it a hard thought and perhaps, with some help on scripting and such, I might be able to make some seeds or adventures based for low level characters traveling mostly alone. im thinking journal pages to be found as a questline, both with tracking, searching and maybe a little combat based on mobs/creatures based on solo players.

well, it is rough getting started in karador as you may have forgotten. While we have improved some things in karador starting out can be tough. (xp penalty is now 50 times the amount of times you have died. we now have body drops that can be taken to a temple to raise you. and familiars no longer cost an xp per death)
really the key when you are young is to invest in pets and henchmen. you can have a maximum of 5 henchmen with you and dogs in port alton cost 15 gp each I believe.
new players start out at level 2 as well, so Jam may have a problem there that a dm can help you with. ranged weapons work well against ants too.
Ants are tough I think they are cr 1 or 2 and so they are much tougher than an orc.

Ants are also a lot faster than orcs. I didn't know the new pet limit was 5. I'll have to remember that. All animal pets (and those monstrous types sold in Nibis) can be stabled. Just remember to remove anything they are carrying first before you do that or it will be lost forever(not all pets can carry stuff). If they don't die during your adventure, save them for another day in a stable. If you are really adventurous, and don't mind losing a few alignment points toward evil, travel to Irveg and buy some skeletons or zombies (20gp each). They can carry stuff for you if you want to lug around heavy things like shields and weapons, can be outfitted with armor, shields and weapons (more so the skeletons, not so sure about the zombies) and the skeletons themselves are immune to anything that does only 1 point of regular damage per hit (due to damage reduction) such as rats and bats. Undead are stabled in graveyards (most graveyards but not all of them, you will know which ones when you enter with your undead).
