Good place to post when you plan to be in game and what areas or dungeons you'd like to explore.
Really good seeing wbjoe and Loo last night, seemed like old times, also nice to see the Gryphons back together. So much has been added that I know I haven't explored but in game we can never think of anything, so perhaps we can persuade Harkker to throw out some suggestions here as well. Exploring the various libraries is also pretty cool as a set-up for future Harkker events so Phlan library is still on the books (ha, punny). There's also that library down in the desert lands but I think it needs completed, wasn't much there when I was there years ago. Any-who... Let's try to persuade E.D. and Ragnar and Sky and Orshad to join with us on a few of these expeditions as well.
Happy Labor Day to all you hard workers.

Yes it was a fun time... Having player driven events is a good thing. The dialogue was good roleplay and it was a nice switch that did feel like the old days. I had a few thoughts on this. first the characters we love to play are usually a little higher in level... and that makes dungeons that can fit them a little harder to find.
Which brings me to my next point. I think it would be cool to have a Dungeon Enhancing Rotating Program or DERP. What it would be, is a volunteer program of minor dungeon builders. I have tools that I can post that take making a dungeon and make it super easy. I figure the ideal dungeon for a short night of play is between 12 -18 rooms and has a run time of 2 hours give or take an hour. Generally the area should be one area only.
Things need not be complex for a good time and there is no need for hundreds of placeables in such a dungeon. You place what you need and move on. Treasure has always been a hard thing with karador. But I have made a varied system from the bioware system that makes it easy. you create one of three boxes in the area which we will call minor medium and boss. then you fill those boxes with random treasure that could fit those catagories... then you place other chests in the dungeons that are special minor medium and boss treasures. the game will randomly select a treasure from the correct box when it is opened. and then won't do it again for another 2200 seconds. so instead of worrying about what treasure goes where you just take the one and fill it with potential treasure and it is randomized for a chance to get it when the linked box is opened.
I can make an encounter template that you just add your monsters to and create spawn points for when you draw them. so treasure and monsters are then easy.
all that is left is a quest giver I would then propose we take some place in the center of lomar and make an adventurers guild. where sort of like the non dmed quests of old there would be signs and henchmen for sale and you would have a sign requesting a mcguffian and where it is located. I can make standard tags for the mcguffians so that all a person has to do is place what ever the quest item in the box and then they get a reward send to all party members. we could make the tag for that Questitem1 for cr 1 Questitem2 for cr 2 etc... and have a standard award for each quest to be 100 gold and 50 xp for each cr...
so if I made a quick quest for cr 7 then the questitem would give 700 gold to each player and 350 xp for completeion.
then we make the boss have the item and give him his own spawn for 2200 seconds.
Every area in the world could have a dungeon... with most quests inside the kingdom being cr 6 or less and those outside being cr 7 and above.
once you got the hang of it and were not too picky with your one area you could bang one of these out in 2-4 hours and if we had 4 people to volunteer we could have 4 new dungeons each month and never ending fun. the other thing is that the pressure is low... nobody would expect much and I could post a bunch of how tos for it.
what do you think?

to sum up
group of people who make a very small dungeon that has the following
limited placables (use what you need) limited rooms (12-18) random treasure ( fill one of three boxes and use their linked boxes) quest given in an adventures guild with a sign posting. standardized quest item tag system one area dungeon that is in an area in the world that has no dungeon. inside the kingdom crs 6 or less outside the kingdom 7 or more.
for the purpose of a once a week meeting for 2 -3 hours of adventure with no dms.

How much of this can the server handle before we run out of space? On a similar note, how much can the forums handle before we run out of space?

question 1) if you figure that each dungeon would only add another area each... lots... I fixed a lot of our resource issues by adding stuff to the custom hak in the cep... we dumped thousands of scripts in there which should free up quite a lot. I see no problems with adding lots of new areas and I don't think these type of dungeons would be all that large... 12- 18 rooms like I said.
question 2 no limit to posts but I did find a 200 mg attachment limit... .

Sounds like a plan, the question is: can you teach an old dog new tricks? Or maybe it should be: can you teach an old, programming-illiterate dog like me these new tricks? At least its not all Greek to me, just most of it...
