The Dragon and the Jewel or the tale of La’sara Giner by MusaLindsey There once was a beautiful elven maiden named La’sara Giner. It was said that, she was so beautiful that only the nymphs of the forest and lakes could out shine her. All who saw her desired her and wanted to make her theirs, kings and princes, elves, humans male and female, and dwarves. ; She was known as the Jewel of Nalaflin. Across the realm suitors would throw them selves at her, but she would hear naught from them. For when she found the right person to love she would know it, in her heart. She contented herself with the practice of magic and traveling with her friends. A barbarian named Jonden, from the human lands, a dwarven warrior named McClangert. A halfling adventurer named Nimbelus and an elven bard Lambellus, who all loved her in their own ways. Her reputation was known and passed realm wide, so it should have been no surprise that the Red Dragon Blazergoth decided he wanted her for himself. He planned to get her to fall in love with him by posing as an elven knight named Valusar. He tried to win her with his powers in combat and his wealth, but his evil nature kept coming out. She told him that she could never love anyone as selfish and cruel as he was. Enraged by her rejection he transformed and kidnapped her, flying away to his lair. Her friends fearing for her safety mounted a rescue mission and climbed to the mountain peak that was his home. The heroes fought bravely, but were bested in the end. The dragon had defeated them. Begging for her friend’s lives she offered to give the dragon whatever he wanted. “Your love said the Dragon I want for you to love me always.”Saddened she replied I can never love you, love can not be gained by force, is there anything ; else could you want?” Angry at yet again being denied the dragon spoke, “Then give me a child, one made from you and me. Or I’ll eat your friends and keep you forever.” She agreed but her terms were this, she would not stay with him while she was with child and after it was born she would return. And the bargain was struck. During the time of her pregnancy she became more and more depressed. She hated the thing that was inside of her as much as she hated the father. But she could not bring her self to kill it. This child even if it was an abomination did not ask to be brought into this world. She would bring it to term. And when the child was born she went back to the dragon’s lair. When the dragon asked to see its child, she pulled form the blanket a large fire crystal and threw it at the dragons feet, where it exploded, collapsing the mountain killing them both. And so the dragon got to keep its jewel forever. '),
