Everyone I feel like I need to ask the question- how many people are on EE now and would like to see Karador move to it? Everything should transfer I think...
I have been playing with renewed gusto on EE as it is available on PC, Android and its coming to consoles. (not sure if custom content will work for console but you get the idea)
There are some great EE servers (FRC is cool) but there are no servers as good as what Karador was back in 2013, especially with its wealth of character customization, and content rich world.
I am deeply considering renting a legit server to host it (paying) but if no one is even interested or own EE than I am not. I know people are still logging in to check this forum... please respond.
Otherwise I am fairly certain I will have to stop hosting the 1.69 Karador (I know its barely running half the time anyway as I have to manually restart it all the time) I would in this event gladly share the files with whomever wants them, hopefully to return it to glory.
I have to research more into this process and thus need time to set it up, so I will check back and see what kind of response I get in a week or so.
Thanks everyone!

I have a feeling we will loose Karador in the end. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic. I'll take the files because all I have is the world without any of my character's content in it. I don't have the EE nor do I know how it will work with my older 1.69 installed. I don't know if there would be a conflict between the two. Also, with the end of the site that posted the real time info on Karador and who's playing, I have no way of knowing who's on. When I did know, I could pop in to play with whoever was in the game. Since that site is gone I've had no way of knowing and I just stopped looking in manually. Also, this year, I've been through a lot of personal issues that are not yet completely resolved. Part of me would like to keep playing on Karador but realistically I haven't been playing this game on any world or server. With my pending open heart surgery in early 2020, I know I won't even be on my computer for up to 2 months after the surgery for recovery time. As far as I know, only Harkker has any knowledge of how to transfer Karador to the new EE. I may be wrong about that but someone else would have to correct me on it. If you do decide to end it all, give a warning and a week to players to get in and save all their characters to their hard drives (even though they won't have all the custom content gained in Karador, just the characters themselves and basic stuff).

Yeah I don't know how often people are on, I just know that anytime I look at the server program running I see none. I don't play because i would have to play it on the one machine i still have 169 installed.
I think that I can continue to run the 1.69 server on my own hardware... but it's going to be spotty as it has been. I just have to constantly babysit it and i am very busy. If i pay for a server host i want people to actually be playing it... myself included. That's why i would only do that if i upgrade it to EE as there is a more active multiplayer community again because the games own multiplayer window posts running servers.
I will look into the possibility if i could run both on the same paid server.
I am able to upgrade the server to EE without Harkker, but I wouldn't be able to script new content or fix any of the current bugs on Karador. Im hoping though that if we moved to EE it might attract new Scriptors and DMs (with the time to work on it) and maybe even someone who can take over the maintenance of it.
Like i said im not rushing into any decision and i would definitely put the files (including character vaults) on a Google drive or similar if i did end the 169.
Hope all goes well with your surgery Sting!

Thanks for your well wishes. If you can upgrade Karador to EE (and I can figure out how to get, install and run the EE as well) I would return to it. You may be right, others might show up too (not just our group). It's a shot to try because if it doesn't pan out, what have we lost considering what's happening in Karador right now? Consider also I'll be 'out of commission' for up to 2 months after my surgery.

I already updated, but haven't had the least bit of gumption to play on Karador - Been mostly doing my own thing. EE is on sale on Steam currently. I recommend getting the Deluxe version because it gives you access to community stuff, and makes joining online worlds a breeze because it downloads custom files in the game browser instead of going to websites, downloading, unzipping, installing, etc.

The EE installation is completely different/separate than the original version of the game, so it won't interfere with 1.69. In essence, it upgrades it from 1.69. As far as I can tell, the only changes were in the game engine, particularly video options, with some edits to a few animations. I do think there were a few door scripts that got muffed up on my module, but the only trick was discovering them.

Amazing news if you decide to do it. If you read the forums on Steam, there was a user who posted a very passionate message about being excited at being able to play on Karador again. I actually bought EE after seeing that message. For my part, my 2 nephews and 1 had some wonderful, memorable experiences playing on Karador about 10+ years ago. We all purchased the Enhanced Edition hoping to get things going again and were very disappointed when we didn't see it in the server list. We found some stuff that was sort of similar, but nothing that was as much fun.
If you do it, the 3 of us will definitely show up for some exploring and adventures. I know you need to see a little more enthusiasm from more people before taking the plunge but I, for one, hope that it happens.

I have no idea if it will happen. I used to play a lot myself but I've been dealing with too many issues (including health) to be able to focus on things of this nature (assuming I know how to make the conversion which I don't). So we will see if it happens or not. I'm not the person who runs Karador but maybe someone who knows how to do it and can, will.

I don't think the 2 versions are compatible but not sure who, if anyone, knows how to convert Karador over. Might have to hand it off to someone who does.

I would certainly join in a game, Karador was always a great experience. I have the Enhanced Edition on Steam. I didn't know there was a deluxe edition of that...I will have to go buy it.

You guys need to talk to Harkker specifically. I don't know if he even checks up on any posts here anymore.

I hope your feeling ok stingray. I bought the enhanced edition. played on some of the top places and karador is way advanced imo in most aspects. I hope someone figures it out and puts it up. im down to one computer currently( need a Video card) or I would put it up. And I may in the future. Im pretty sure I have a current version but I don't have any of the server /local vault saves. this is also gms66mg fyi..changed my name.
