If I had to do it all over again I would have used a subrace system instead of 255 different races. I also would change the prc classes so that spells would be feats that would be applied to the pc not to his hide.
Mostly because when a creature attacks a minotaur with a +1d6 damage to minotaurs it does not work on pcs. also the amount of scripting one has to do for 255 races is so much harder than a subrace system.
the only down side to subraces is that starting skill points would be off for any creature with over an 18 int. but with a subrace system would could eliminate the need to make bic files and upload them.

So I'm going to ask the obvious question here even if I think I know the answer. How difficult/time consuming would it be to make it the way you want (subraces)?

I would have to rework who parts of the prc... but it would not be too difficult... I would do it if we could cut the amount of haks we need...

I suppose if I really wanted to do it I could always have people make their characters using the prc races and then switch them to their base races in game via scripting. But when a merchant would talk to a drow he would call the drow an elf.

the upside is that we could have over 255 races.... any undead could be turned as well as players who were outsiders as they should be.

So a player could be destroyed by turning if the difference in levels was high enough?

I am not sure how it is hard coded, but sure why not?
