Eventually it will probably connect. The location puts it out of the boundries of normal lomar... What we are looking for are adventure areas that are new. We are looking for something a little more indepth...Also an area that if we nuke the whole thing it won't affect the regular world at large. If we blow up Port Alton that will have a lasting affect for new players... a whole new adventure area means that the whole thing is a lot less static. If for instance you anger the Gnoll tribes and start a war it may not bleed down to proper lomar as they are so far away.
Hmmmm the next question are the particulars of the campaign...
should all characters have to roll up stats with a dice bag... with a standard 3 d6? should the campaign be permadeath if no one bothers to try to bring the dead back to a cleric?

Is there a time limit to how long a body can be dead? If so I know that true resurrection can bring back any length of time dead so if we can't bring that character back immediately perhaps down the road it might be possible. The body would have to be found/dug up for this to happen of course.
Will players not involved in the new campaign be able to venture into this newer territory and if so, will it have any impact on either ours or their adventuring?
I think we will need an official roll call. Players are going to see these posts and at some point they should say they are in, not in, or undecided so that we know who has and who hasn't even seen the posts to make a consideration.

Offically a raise dead spell can be used only if the person has been dead for 1 day per caster level... so at least 9th days at least...
Me and Oak have to build the area as it does not exist. As it would begin the people of Lomar would not have much reason to go to Thel Dinge. Perhaps if there was some sort of trade that was discovered or made then boats would start heading there and a regular boat trip would be possible. that all would depend upon the ambition of those who live there.
I have always assumed there are other cities in the world but the players have no reason to go there.
As far as long lasting effects go on the world... Nothing really is going to change unless a dm is present and acknowledges it as canon. A dozen people have killed the king over time and it has not happened in an event.
I Agree a roll call will be needed as this event will not serve to have people pop in on game night expecting to play. I suppose I could make some npc characters for those people and just move the bic file in their folder for the night but...

I'm interested. Though I say with hesitation, as always I cant guarantee I can make it that early in the night, every time.
As far as 3d6 abilities... does that mean in order, so str then dex etc, no switching. I am fine with it just wanted clarification. Only problem I foresee (the downside has always been to this method) is it could result in several character being similar classes, if people are rolling high on the same abilities. Better get ready to break out the character who "communicates with grunts and gestures" because of a 3 int. LOL. Can anyone name me what source that is from?
Permadeath I'm fine with as well... only problem is once again there has to be some reason for an evil character to want to put forth the effort or spend the coin to res a good one or vice versa.

Wbjoe just can't ever start on time, so one more who is late doesn't matter so much... I wouldn't worry about it much.. It would be fun to have you along though.
The die rolling thing is just a suggestion to keep things more tabletopish... Perhaps oak will have a suggestion but I could also see a player getting three choices.
a) roll 3d6 and move the stats where you want them and getting a mulligen b) roll 4d6 dropping the lowest die keeping the stats where they are. c) roll 2 set of stats with 3d6 being able to move 2 stats around and keeping only one set.
The outlying areas of thel dinge will be created as the campaign goes on.

When I DMed a looooong time ago (yes, in a galaxy somewhat far away), I allowed 4d6, drop the lowest, arrange in any order, then add/delete racial bonuses/penalties but that was just me.
"I have always assumed there are other cities in the world but the players have no reason to go there." I guess other parts of the world are just too bland for our tastes...."On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place"

Hi, sorry I am too often late. The lad and lass just don't go to sleep and since the missus works very early on Mondays too, I'm kinda on my own putting them down. My two cents: I'm in I like the family idea- love 'em or hate 'em: you just can't kill 'em. Good or bad, I would love to refresh an old character if possible- I have several that never developed, and others that I would like to continue to play...
